Allstate Canada and water damage: what’s covered and how the claim works
This page explains how Allstate Canada handles water damage on a home policy, in plain language, with the facts taken from Allstate Canada’s own website. It is general information, not advice on your policy. Your policy documents and your claims representative are the final word on what you hold.
Which Allstate Canada coverage applies to what you’re seeing
Start with where the water came from. That decides which part of the policy it falls under.
- Burst pipe or appliance leak
- Standard sudden and accidental water damage.
- Backup from a municipal sewer or septic system
- Limited Sewer Backup, or Enhanced Water Damage.
- Sump pump malfunction
- Limited Sewer Backup, or Enhanced Water Damage.
- Overflow of fresh water, heavy rain
- Enhanced Water Damage only.
- Rapid build-up of ground or surface water
- Enhanced Water Damage only.
Limited Sewer Backup or Enhanced Water Damage
Allstate sells two water endorsements in Ontario. Limited Sewer Backup covers damage from backups on municipal sewer or private septic systems and from sump pump malfunction. The Enhanced Water Damage package covers all of that plus overflow from a body of fresh water, heavy rain and the rapid build-up of ground or surface water.
Both include help towards preventing the next loss, such as installing a backwater valve. If you are rebuilding after a backup, ask your claims representative about it before the walls close up.
How the claim works with Allstate
Call 1-800-387-0462 at any hour, or report online at myallstate.ca. Pembridge Insurance, which sells through brokers, is backed by Allstate and uses the same Ontario claims number.
What we do on an Allstate claim
We extract, map and dry to a measured standard, and we keep the evidence your claims representative needs: where the water came from, what category it was, and readings for every wet material. On a sewer backup that record is what shows the loss belongs under the endorsement.
Our experience with Allstate Canada claims
Insurance claims are most of our work, and we have handled claims for Allstate Canada policyholders. We know what the Allstate Canada claims team asks for and how its water coverage is set up, so the evidence your adjuster needs is collected from the first hour instead of pieced together afterwards.
You deal with one team from the first call to the final repair. We answer the adjuster’s questions ourselves, and we tell you plainly what your policy is likely to cover before any work that is not an emergency.
