CAA Insurance and water damage: what’s covered and how the claim works
This page explains how CAA Insurance handles water damage on a home policy, in plain language, with the facts taken from CAA Insurance’s own website. It is general information, not advice on your policy. Your policy documents and your claims representative are the final word on what you hold.
Which CAA Insurance coverage applies to what you’re seeing
Start with where the water came from. That decides which part of the policy it falls under.
- Burst pipe or appliance leak
- Standard sudden and accidental water damage.
- Backup through a sewer, drain or septic system
- Sewer backup coverage, or CAA Water Coverage.
- Surface water from a sudden heavy rainfall
- CAA Water Coverage.
- Rising water table or groundwater
- CAA Water Coverage.
- Overflowing lake or river
- CAA Water Coverage.
CAA Water Coverage in plain terms
CAA Water Coverage bundles several kinds of water damage into one add-on: floods, surface water from sudden heavy rainfall, the rising of the water table or groundwater, and the escape of water or sewage from backed-up sewers, drains or septic systems in your home.
CAA also says that policyholders with sewer backup coverage automatically get enhanced protection that includes overflow from a nearby lake or river and surface water from a sudden weather event. Check which of the two you hold on your policy documents.
How the claim works with CAA
Call 1-877-222-1717 at any hour. CAA assigns an adjuster, who confirms your coverage, arranges a home visit and moves straight to organise help for any emergency.
CAA’s own claims page says that ultimately the choice of contractor for repairs to your property is your own. If you want us, tell your adjuster on the first call.
What we do on a CAA claim
Extraction, moisture mapping, removal of what cannot be saved, and structural drying to a measured standard, logged daily and photographed before anything leaves the house. Your adjuster gets the written scope before any rebuild starts.
Our experience with CAA Insurance claims
Insurance claims are most of our work, and we have handled claims for CAA Insurance policyholders. We know what the CAA Insurance claims team asks for and how its water coverage is set up, so the evidence your adjuster needs is collected from the first hour instead of pieced together afterwards.
You deal with one team from the first call to the final repair. We answer the adjuster’s questions ourselves, and we tell you plainly what your policy is likely to cover before any work that is not an emergency.
