Which belairdirect coverage applies to what you’re seeing
Start with where the water came from. That decides which part of the policy it falls under.

belairdirect is part of Intact
belairdirect is owned by Intact Financial Corporation, and so is RSA’s old Canadian personal insurance business: rsagroup.ca now sends visitors to belairdirect. The water coverage is named the same way as Intact’s: the Enhanced Water Damage Package.
belairdirect’s claims network is Intact’s Rely Network, and one of its members, On Side Restoration, is itself an Intact subsidiary. If belairdirect offers to send its own contractor, that is who is likely to arrive.
What the Enhanced Water Damage Package covers
It covers sudden and accidental damage from water or sewage that comes in through a sewer, septic system, sump pump or drain on your property, including to your belongings and to detached structures like a shed. In Ontario, flood damage is covered only if the policy includes Overland Water: water from a lake or river overflow, heavy rain or rapid snowmelt entering at or above ground level.
Your own contractor
Using the network is an option, not a requirement. If you want a contractor you have chosen, tell the claims team when you open the claim and ask how payment will work. We give the adjuster the written scope, moisture readings and photographs, and we will not start the rebuild until it is agreed.
